Hello Mitchell School Families –
My name is Melissa Cantara, this is my third year here and I love being the nurse for Horace Mitchell Elementary School!
A little history about me. I became a registered nurse in 2010. I have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Southern Maine. I have worked in surrounding seacoast hospitals having held positions in Medical Surgical Nursing, Cardiac Nursing, Nursing Administration and Nursing Informatics. In addition to working at Mitchell School, I also work per diem at York Hospital and as an aesthetic nurse.
I have two children, a 13-year-old son and a 10-year-old daughter, so I empathize the struggles and importance of a child’s health and wellbeing in school. I love being outdoors whether it be hiking, skiing, camping, relaxing at the beach or kayaking, I love cheering on my children’s sports teams and I love being a nurse. A funny fact about me, I couldn’t decide whether to be a nurse or a teacher! Lucky me, I get to be a nurse in the education setting – The best of both worlds!!!
