Shapleigh School Nurse

Hello Shapleigh families,

My name is Brenda Bladen. This is my tenth year as the nurse at Shapleigh School.  I enjoy being at the middle school and feel privileged to be able to serve the community where I live.  Getting to know students when they enter Shapleigh in 4th grade and watch them grow into young teens has been no small part of the joy.

I encourage families to reach out with questions and comments about the services that Shapleigh School’s school nursing office provides.

As with any medical provider, I ask families to please send updates about changes in your student’s health status.

These include things like asthma, allergies, or new medications.  I can’t emphasize enough the value of having an allergy action plan or an asthma action plan on file for your student.

I also request that a copy of any updated immunizations be faxed, emailed or sent in for their health file.

The State of Maine requires students entering the 7th grade to receive their Tdap booster (prevents tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis) and their meningococcal vaccine prior to their enrollment in the fall.

I encourage families to have these completed before the end of summer due to the last minute rush and possible vaccine shortages. Please ask their physician’s office to fax their record to 207-439-9958.

If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to call me at (207)439-5866 or email me at bbladen@kitteryschools.com.

Yours in health,

Brenda Bladen MEd, RN, NCSN
